Sharonn Jones

Counsellor

I am an experienced qualified & registered Counsellor that has worked both within the NHS and in a variety of mental health organisations  across London. I have worked with adults as well as families using an Integrative Approach within my practice. I work in the areas of North London, and offer sessions during business hours, early evenings, and also weekends.

How I work

My work is focused on ensuring that each client is seen as a unique individual, with differing sets of life experiences. By using an Integrative approach, this allows me to adapt to the various needs that each client brings to therapy. I recognise that one approach can be very limited when working with an array of issues within therapy, and believe that it is a valuable to be able to utilise where necessary different approaches.

How can I help?

Understanding changes in our emotions, and why at points we feel somewhat immobilised by life events in itself can be emotionally challenging.  I offer a safe and supportive space for individuals to talk about these feelings in a safe and non-judgemental environment; where they will be listened to and assisted to explore these emotions in more depth and to begin to gain some understanding of their feelings.

I offer individual therapy and also work with families for short or longer term interventions

’It is that the individual has within themselves or herself vast resources for self –understanding, for altering his or her self-concepts, attitudes and self-directed behaviour – and that these resources can be tapped if only a definable climate of facilitative psychological attitudes can be provided”

What to Expect?

As part of the process you will be offered an initial appointment, which is an opportunity for both of us to meet. This time is used primarily as a consultation session, where you have an opportunity to talk about yourself and some of the presenting issues, and your reasons for seeking counselling. The consultation session allows any question or concerns that you have to be discussed.

It is also a period in which I explain a little about myself and how I work, and for you to get a feel on whether you wish to work with me as your therapist.
